Japanese Style Backstory

Japanese Style Side Cabinet - 1

This is the very fist Japanese style piece - the side cabinet (AKA Small Hardwood Chest)

At the heart of our Japanese Style Furniture Collection lies a tale of discovery, ingenuity, and transformation. It all began with a fortuitous encounter—a beautiful hardwood drawer that held within it two substantial hardwood panels, unseen and untouched until that moment.

Upon disassembly, the potential of these panels sparked a wave of creativity within me. Drawing upon years of honed techniques and skills, I embarked on a journey to fashion something truly special for my shop. With meticulous attention to detail, I employed curved handle areas, dowels, and red oak hardwood corners, infusing each element with care and precision.

The result? A small chest imbued with the essence of craftsmanship and artistry, captured in every rounded door and polished surface. Initially intended for practical use in my shop, its undeniable beauty soon beckoned for a more prominent stage.

Enter Mrs. EastbayDIY, whose keen eye and design acumen breathed new life into the chest. Her suggestion of adding legs to enhance its presentation initially gave me pause. Yet, a serendipitous trip to our local Lowe's proved transformative. With a carefully chosen set of legs, the chest underwent a metamorphosis, transcending its humble origins to become a stunning furniture piece.

Indeed, the addition of legs proved to be the catalyst for a larger vision. Inspired by the newfound elegance of the chest, I set out to expand the concept into a comprehensive Japanese Style Furniture Collection. From media consoles to coffee tables, each piece embodies the same ethos of craftsmanship and beauty, offering discerning customers an opportunity to bring the essence of Japanese design into their homes.

As we continue to develop and refine our collection, we invite you to join us on this exciting adventure—a celebration of artistry, innovation, and the timeless appeal of Japanese design.
